Tony Scavo is the OFFICIAL Photographer for the BooKoo AX series!

January 2005 - I met up with Ronnie Renner at The Saloon near Corona, California on the morning of Anaheim2 to get some nice shots and during the session we produced this sequential of Ronnie doing the suicide whip, no hander style...Ronnie has elevated this trick to unbelievable new heights when he snaps it vertical and inverted, if anyone is close to being able to pull off a barrel roll, Ronnie is the guy. Check it out!

Industry Professionals - Please contact Tony if you're interested in any Ronnie Renner images from this photoshoot.

January 28, 2005 - Aspen Colorado

I'm here with my ever impressive assistant and ( I'm so lucky ) girlfriend, Danya, shooting Jeep's ride and drive today. Athletes such as Blair Morgan, Brian Deegan, Beau Bamburg and Kenny Bartram all showed up today to participate in this very cool deal that Jeep puts together for the athletes and VIP, They get to take a brand new Jeep Rubicon up the ski slope and around a course of cones, off cambers and slippery corners, steep climbs and descents are the norm on this exciting course. They are timed with 3 categories of contestants (Boardsports, Motorsports and Media ).A total of 6 thousand dollars will be spread over 4 different charities in which men and women will compete seperately.

Check out everyone having a great time here in Aspen. Moto-X practice was cancelled this morning due to wet conditions ( course needs to be pure ice for the riders to hook up ) but its set to go off tonight under the lights ( tentatively ) hopefully we can post a pic or two from that if it happens.

We woke to a few new inches of powder, the first snow in over 2 weeks for Aspen ( Nice Timing )

X-Games competitor Beau Bamburg is diggin his jeep ride

Blair Morgan had one of the fastest early course times

Kenny Bartram and Pat Schutte taking a moment to pose with the brand new rubicon

Jamie Little has a race face, this is it!

Jamie bench races with the voice of the Indianapolis 500, Paul Page and Ken ( Jeep course official )

Check out Tavi Weeck, she is in pain for a good reason, she landed hard off a jump at Cahuilla Creek on Wednesday the 19th at the Cycle News Ride Day and fractured her talus bone, word is it was a big jump...get well soon, Tavi :)

Thursday January 20th 2005

Media day at the former " Edison International Field " went off under blue sky today, Steve Whitelock, Denny Hartwig and some local media guys as well as WerdNerd (Steve Cox) and the omnipresent TFS a fellow from the Orange County Register and myself sat down and talked about what could be done to get our sport recognized on a more nationally recognized scale. The Associated Press thinks that Motocross and Supercross are the equivalent of a circus that comes to town, sells out to an audience looking for entertainment and then nobody cares 5 weeks later. They aren't far off unfortunately, people in sheer numbers keep our sport from reaching those venues week in and week out, we certainly have enough races and big name racers to have plenty of drama for them to write about but what we need is you...the people, to write in and express the need for coverage in your local newspapers. When we do that, sooner or later when the numbers justify them paying attention, they will make changes....unless we, the people that participate in and love this sport become more proactive in that capacity...we won't see the media take hold and bring SX/MX into a limier light.

Here is Nate Dawg's version of the Nac Nac

Lil Goose whipped into the Anaheim sunlight

Steven D. Bauer was at it again this year, following the Media day at Anaheim me and TFS shot over...er...creaped ... along the 91 in my trusty Jeep Wrangler to Loma Linda Childrens' Hospital for an FMX demo, put on by Jeff " full tilt " Tilton and Who is your Daddeeeee.... Mister Ronald McDonald Renner, also in attendance were Supercross stars Travis Pastrana, David Vuillemin, Nate Ramsey, Sean "Hambone" Hamblin and many others supporting the cause, the godfather of FMX even stopped by again, all of them putting smiles on the childrens faces! The hospital staff was so receptive to the event that it kind of took us by surprise...instead of them being super protective and cautious about a lawsuit or bad press, they ran it full throttle and loved every second of it The kids were as close to the action ( in their wheelchairs outside ) as I'm allowed to stand on the track at a Supercross race. The kids that couldn't come outside got to watch from their windows and when the riders came inside they just lit up, hats, autographed posters, Racer-X lunchboxes, stickers... you name it, it was passed out to these brave children.

This event that Bauer oversees every year is one of the most heart warming deals I have ever had the pleasure to be around and participate in. Last year when I saw it posted on Mototalk I knew if I ever had the chance to go, I would be there. Today was my chance and I'm glad I got to see those kids' happy faces :)

WTG Bauer and Loma Linda...putting the kids out front like that is a class act thing to do and smiles can go a long way in promoting the healing process, I hope this continues forever.

Phoenix - January 15, 2005 -
Team Kawasaki rider James Stewart will not be competing in round two of the THQ Supercross Series at Bank One Ballpark
after suffering a fractured left forearm during a practice crash on Saturday. Stewart was treated and evaluated by physicians on the scene and released for further evaluation. Stewart posted the fastest overall lap time in the final 250 practice session of 51.281 seconds.

1/13/2005 - Jason Thomas recovering from the Anaheim Spoiler looked good in practice, everyone did in fact, they didnt have 20 inches of greasy slop beneath them, in fact...the phoenix track is one of the nicest looking layouts ever ( we always say that i know ) Jason talked about how Anaheim was a crap shoot because anything can happen, very true...RC getting 3rd doesnt happen too often as history has dictated but the cards fell where they did and now the strong privateer from Gainesville Florida is ready to prove to his subway sponsors and everyone else just what he is made of. JT is already pretty tough, racing the nationals and then with only a two week break heading into world supercross and even some Euro rounds and a win in germany and then the THQ series, this 20 something is proving himself an ironman.

Reed sporting the number 1 he earned last year battling with kevin windham looked smooth in practice and was obliterating the whoops, we are going to finally see the race we " expected " this weekend in phoenix, Anaheim was the series opener and while it was a great race, it just didnt have that one thing we all crave, speed! Phoenix will not disappoint!

Nate dog was throwin down some kickouts over the triple and seat bouncing all over the place, he looks fast, smooth and comfortable...look for a battle between him and hotsauce on saturday night.

Stay tuned, more updates from bank one coming at ya...same moto time, same moto channel...TOE out.

1/8/2005 - Here is a picture of the track just moments ago as they uncovered the field...it is 85% DRY folks...yup, it isnt raining in anaheim and the forecast looks like were gonna have ourselves a SX race...in some of the corners it is sloppy where water has collected but it looks to be ON!!! check out the sand whoops in the upper left hand corner of the pic....badass, keep on keepin those fingers crossed, pray out loud for tinkerbell, pray with all your heart, pray harder...oh...sorry wrong prayer...lets get ready to ruuuuuuumble, yes!

Friday 1/7/2005 - The rains in Spain....err....Anaheim, are still coming down as you can see, this image was taken ten minutes ago and there are no signs of it letting up, apparently El Nino and God got together and drank a few too many beers, cause its pissin like a cow on a flat rock down here :(

Are you gonna be sitting here? Bring your rubbers, tarps, ez-ups, parka's, hefty bags and whatever else will keep the rain off you because this is gonna be a soaker folks... Those lucky few individuals sitting under an overhang will get to enjoy their hot dog without it melting in their hands, i really feel for you guys that are gonna be toughing it out in the open seating...but hey, were moto freaks right? lil bit of rain never scared us away, they dont call em DIRT bikes for nothing ( for this race they needed to be called mud bikes though...Doh

The THQ finish line... who will out survive the rest and reach this first on saturday night, the rain has leveled the playing field and we just might see one lucky privateer pocketing the warthogs dough, lets hope we see history in that respect, who wants it?

This is the outside rim of the track, the concrete will be welcome to alot of us hounds since we wont be knee deep in mud in these areas, in the middle it might be a different story...suddenly im having Loretta Lynn 2003 flashbacks...ugggh

Hmmm... anyone thinking what im thinking? This is ridiculous!

Thursday 1/6/2005 - The Anaheim press conference inside the Diamond Club went off under a light-hearted atmosphere, Pastrana was joking about not doing Winter-X ( Too cold ) MC joked about not making a comeback last year when it would have been " Less Stacked ", Bubba who was silent during Jeremy's talk time asked " Are you talkin over there? I was quiet when you had the mic " Heath was completely thrilled to be center stage and the proud recipient of the WSX Gold Medal and ring. ( awesome job, Heath ) Chad looked and talked very seriously about the upcoming race and season and when asked if he thought his chances were different at another championship because of the deeper field of talent he simply replied he 'still had to race consistently and not get injured and podium to win it...that it didnt matter who was on the line', I guess when you look at it that way, he's right, now that's confidence. RC was given an USC football jersey ( he is a big fan ) and seemed to be the most relaxed of the group, RC talked about his switch to Suzuki and said the zook motor was alot like his Kawi and he adjusted very easily. He also mentioned his relationship with Honda and the reason people are more responsive to his switch is possibly because everyone loves an underdog....he is coming into this race untitled after all ( in SX anyway ), and that bodes well for the young Carmichael. MC also spoke of low pressure situations, he is going to go out there and give it what he has but he isn't making any promises, ending his speech with...'I wont put myself into a pressure situation', this is a relaxed racing environment for Jeremy and he intends to have fun and do what he loves the most in the world...Race Supercross in Anaheim Stadium, his palace ... see you all in the puddles this Saturday Night :)

Wednesday 1/5/2005 - Sorry for the delay in getting these images posted, I tried to post images directly into the mototalk thread for the dirt wurx conference but my laptop is acting finicky about images for some reason ... So, I had to drive the hour and a half back to san diego so danya could put these up on my website. The track as you can see is about 20% done ( more by now ) there were several trucks outside, apparently shut down from some officials in Anaheim due to the mud being tracked in on the roads ( its only a few blocks from the dirt pile to the stadium for petes sake ) Anyway, It looks to me if they can get the track done and get it covered, there should be a decent race depending on how light of rain we get on saturday, lets keep our fingers crossed... BTW, sorry for the rough panorama in the last pic, i shot that without a tripod and danya did the best she could to piece my crapola together...Thanks, enjoy
